The historic town of Cobargo is celebrating its 12th Festival of music, dance, song comedy, theatre and poetry.

Over 200 performers will converge on the Cobargo showground over the last weekend in February and provide a pageant of Australian and international talent.

Included in the program this year are the outrageous Beez from Germany; the beautiful step-dancing fiddlers Mad Violet from Canada, the legendary Judy Small, Kate Fagan - (Winner of the National Film & Sound Archive Award for best folk recording of 2006).

There will be sizzling bluegrass from The Lawnmowers - PLUS Karen Lynne and Acoustic Shock and Cajun magic from Allez-gators.

Also in the lineup this year are the very popular Wheelers & Dealers, winners of 2003 MusicOz folk award, and purveyors of antipodean celtic music. Be impressed by the instrumental wizardry of guitarists Nick Charles 'Male Blues Artist of the Year 2006' and 'Blues Duo/Solo of the Year 2006' MBAS Blues Performer of The Year!' and Anthony McGloin, Trevor Dunham AND our own Damon Davies – and lots more.
Some special features will be The Annual Cec Cox Memorial Poets Breakfast hosted by Russell Hannah, Karawali, Pioneers and Politics with Dale and John Dengate, Chris Woodland, and Jenny O'Reilly, The Roar of the Crowd with Bob and Margaret Fagan, The now famous 'Political Soapbox' on Sunday morning, and a program of singing in the 'Voices' theatre including the 'Roaring Forties', The Canberra Union Voices, Triantan, The Shiny Bum Singers, The Tathra Womens' Choir, Just a Tad and Moz, and the Illawarra Union Singers.

For those who appreciate a spot of comedy or satire catch John Dengate's songs about his past illnesses and Mal Webb's incredible vocal gymnastics and musical recording technique.

As usual, the Festival is proud to present an amazing array of local talent, including Peter Wild, Lucie Thorne and Heath Cullen, Eclectic Kitchen, Damon Davies, Heather Black, Deb Weedon, Nutleys Creek, Bush Medicine, Silver Strings, By Jingo, Arati George, The Meandering Wastrels, The Uninvited, Robyn Martin & Sam Martin.

Australian and Celtic music will be well represented by the Watsaname Band, The Merrigans and Jonathon Ashley, a fine singer from South Australia

Blues enthusiasts will appreciate contributions to the program by Paul Wookey, Nick Charles and Bob McGowan and the Front Porch Pickers.

Another special feature will be the performance of the classically trained duo Lucy and Larissa virtuoso Belorussian cimbalom performer. Lucy Voronov combines with Larrisa Burak whose wonderful soprano voice and Ukranian bandura playing has thrilled audiences in Europe.

There are seven venues operating simultaneously with continuous concerts, performances, dance displays, choirs, workshops and instrument forums. There are intimate blackboard concerts and sessions and a separate program and venue for the kids including craft workshops, Punch and Judy and a pirate's show. There is also an excellent session bar ("best session bar in Australia" – Tracy Bunn, Towsucking Cowgirls)

This year 'The Crossing Youth Music Expo' venue is run by and totally dedicated to outstanding youth talent. Aspiring youth performers will be able to attend workshops run by professional artists and learn song writing, stage, performance and production skills.

At the Cobargo Festival you can join in and have fun in a wide range of music song poetry or dance. All festival goers are invited to join in the Festival Choir (led by Miguel Heatwole), the instrument sessions and the singalongs.

The facilities include exotic foodstalls, a bar and refreshment area craft and market stalls and a Festival Shop where you can buy performers' CDs and buy sell or exchange pre-loved musical instruments.

The Festival is a short walk from Cobargo village where there is a good pub, coffee shops, supermarket and tempting craft and antique shops

Hot and cold showers, some powered sites and excellent on site camping is available at the showground for full weekend ticket holders only @ $5 per adult per night.

A full program of dance will be held at the 'The Brolga Venue' - some highlights will be an African display, Rovers display, Scottish display, Colonial dance display, Irish display, Indonesian. A Contra Dance specialty, the Tabouli belly dancers and a bush dance.
